"So, here you are
too foreign for home
too foreign for here
never enough for both"
- Ljeoma Umebinyuo
As a child, my sweetest memories were those spent climbing mango trees, bathing in the rain, 2pm mandatory rosaries, and an ever present respect for the sea. These images are a definitive love song to those fleeting moments amongst my elders.
Now as an outsider with intimate knowledge, I find myself recording all the small nuances typical island life and its relation to simplicity.
Like all estranged relationships, my visits are spent navigating many internal bridges in need of mending. This series of photographs are excerpts from a growing familial archive for future generations.
