Widline Cadet

Widline Cadet (pronounced wid-lean) is a Haitian-born image-maker. Her photographic practice is deeply rooted in her experience as an immigrant and explores the racial and cultural tensions as well as identity shifts that often occur due to displacement. Through portraits, landscapes and still life, she uses photography as a means of placing herself within the context of the in betweenness of her birthplace, Haiti and adopted home, the United States. She is a recipient of a 2013 Mortimer-Hays Brandeis Traveling Fellowship, and a 2018 Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture resident. She currently lives and works in Syracuse, NY where she is pursuing her MFA degree at Syracuse University's School of Visual and Performing Arts.
